New York, NY – Junior center Juanita Whyms (Far Rockaway, NY/Stella Maris) scored a team high 15 points and pulled down ten rebounds for her second double-double of the season during a 59-43 loss to Rutgers-Newark in a non-conference women's basketball game Tuesday afternoon at the Hunter Sportsplex.

Freshman guard Jared Tactuk (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) scored a game high 19 points for the Scarlet Raiders, while senior guard Bimpe Fageyinbo (Morris Plains, NJ/Parsippany Hills) added ten points and a team high eight rebounds. Junior guard Shay Branch El-Vielot (Cambria Heights, NY/Canarsie) was the only other Hawk to finish in double figures, scoring 13 points and adding six rebounds.

Hunter will open up 2009 on the road with a non-conference game against Marywood University in Scranton, Pa. on Monday, January 5 at 7:00 p.m.
