Bronx, NY – Competing at the first CUNY Athletic Conference Multi-Match of the season, senior outside hitter
Olga Petrenko (Bronx, NY/Environmental Studies) hit a match high 16 kills, with a .522 hitting percentage to help send the Hawks over the College of Staten Island 3-0 (25-11, 25-8, 25-17) in the morning match at The APEX on the campus of Lehman College in the Bronx, NY.
Since moving to the outside this season,
Petrenko numbers have increased as she is now averaging 2.91 kills per game as opposed to 1.11 last season. She also contributed three aces and three digs. Sophomore middle blocker
Tracey Igwe (Bronx, NY/DeWitt Clinton) saw success against the Dolphins, finishing with eight kills, hitting .438. Sophomore setter
Stephanie Broome (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) added 28 assists and four aces.
The Dolphins were led by sophomore outside hitter
Joanna Tepedino (Staten Island, NY/St Joseph by the Sea) who finished with four kills, three solo blocks and two digs.
The Hawks improved to 3-0 on the year and are now 1-0 in the CUNY Athletic Conference, extending their CUNYAC unbeaten streak to 24 consecutive matches. In the second match of the day, the Hawks will face rival Baruch College at 3:00 p.m. on the main court at The APEX.
