Balanced Attack Leads Hawks To 3-0 Win

Newark, NJ – Competing on the road Friday night, the Hunter women's volleyball team, behind a balanced attack, defeated the Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers-Newark 3-0 (25-10, 25-12, 25-10) in a non-conference play at the Golden Dome in Newark, NJ.

Sophomore outside hitter Rachel SantaOlalla (Ventura, CA/Ventura), sophomore middle blocker Tracey Igwe (Bronx, NY/DeWitt Clinton) and sophomore setter Stephanie Broome (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) each recorded a match high four kills for the Hawks who improved to 6-0 on the season. Broome also had a match high ten assists and added four digs.

Senior opposite Amanda Kamm (Dix Hills, NY/Hills West) contributed to tonight's victory with four serving aces, three kills and three digs. The Hawks finished with a 15-3 edge in aces.

Junior outside hitter Rose Anna Beljour (Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack) paced Rutgers-Newark with 11 digs, two aces and three kills, while sophomore middle blocker Crystal Navarro (Passaic, NJ/Passaic) posted three kills.

Hunter returns to action a little over 12 hours from the completion of tonight's match when they head to Farleigh Dickenson University–College at Florham for a Quad match where the Hawks will face the Devils, Dominican College and will have a non-conference bout with CCNY.
