New York, NY – Senior guard
Emiljano Kinaj (Bronx, NY/John F. Kennedy) scored a Hawk career high of 23 points, shooting 4-of-7 from downtown and 5-of-6 from the free throw line, but it wouldn't be enough as the Hawks fall to the Violets of New York University 81-63 Monday night at the Coles Center.
Kinaj was the only Hawk to finish in double figures, senior forward
Frantz Millien (Rockland, NY/North Rockland) had nine points and junior guard
Bobby Kiernan (Setauket, NY/Carle Place) scored seven for the Hawks.
Senior center John Mish (Holland, PA/Holy Ghost Prep) led the Violets with 22 points and 11 rebounds as NYU dominated the paint, scoring 58 of their points from underneath the hoop. Joining Mish in the pain was sophomore forward Richie Polan (Tarzana, CA/The Buckley School) scoring a career high 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting.
The Hawks will resume conference play on Wednesday, when they head to Jamaica, NY for a match-up with the Cardinals of York College for the two's first meeting since last season's semifinal game of the CUNYAC Tournament. Tip-Off is slated for 8:00 p.m.
