Staten Island, NY – Junior guard
Shay Branch El-Vielot (Cambria Heights, NY/Canarsie) led the Hawks with 16 points, seven rebounds and six assists, but a large first half deficit would prove to be too much for the Hawks as they fall to the College of Staten Island, 69-53 in a CUNY Athletic Conference game Saturday afternoon.
The Dolphins now improve to a perfect 8-0 in the CUNYAC, while the Hawks fall to 2-5, 5-11 overall.
Sophomore guard
Megan McKenna (Rockaway, NY/Midwood) also had a big game for the Hawks, scoring 15 points and dishing out six assists, while junior forward
Andrea Buckham (Queens, NY/Flushing) finished with 12 points and a team high nine rebounds.
The Dolphins were led by senior Megan Sullivan (Brooklyn, NY/St. Francis Prep) who scored 19 points and pulled down 14 boards. Senior Nicole Estrada (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney) was next in line with 18 points and seven assists.
The Hawks return home on Monday, when they play host to the Ospreys of Richard Stockton for a 6:00 p.m. non-conference game.
