New York, NY – Sophomore middle blocker
Mallory Grubler (Bayside, NY/Cardozo) recorded a match high 11 kills, hitting .579 to help the Hawks to a 3-0 (25-10, 25-10, 25-9) victory over Medgar Evers College in the second match of a CUNY Athletic Conference Multi-Match day held at the Hunter Sportsplex.
The Hawks also got a big contribution from freshman outside hitter
Karolina Krauze (Middle Village, NY/Bayside) who had a career high seven kills, hitting .417 along with five digs. Sophomore outside hitter
Christine Luebcke (Jackson Heights, NY/Cardozo) added seven kills of her own and a career high six serving aces. Freshman setter
Mia Alexis De Claro (Westbury, NY/Bayside) dished out a match high 25 assits and junior libero
Mary Grace Vergara (New City, NY/Clarkstown South) had nine digs.
For the Cougars, senior outside hitter Charita Henry led the team with four kills, while sophomore Natina Smith tallied eight assists and freshman libero Cristal Molina had a match high ten digs.
Hunter closes out the day standing at 14-10 overall and 6-1 in the conference, while the Cougars fall to 3-12 on the year and 2-4 in the CUNYAC. The Hawks will be back in action on Wednesday, when they travel to Poughkeepsie, NY to face Vassar College for a 7:00 p.m.
