Flushing, NY – Senior
Bomi Park (Astoria, NY/Younghoon) recorded the fifth point of the match via a 6-3, 6-4 fifth singles match and the eventual 6-3 victory over non-conference opponent Saint Joseph's-Patchogue Sunday afternoon at the UTA Tennis Center in Flushing, NY.
The Hawks held a 2-1 lead following doubles play, with senior
Evgeniya Kim (Flushing, NY/Cardozo) and sophomore
Stefanie Smith (Little Neck, NY/Cardozo) winning first doubles 8-2, while the team of juniors
Anna Vagner (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) and
Veronica Efimenko (Belarus/#181) took second doubles 8-3.
Kim then won her first singles match 6-1, 6-1, followed by Vagner winning third singles 6-1, 6-1. The Hawks final victory on Sunday came from sophomore
Ericka Jaramillo (Jamaica, NY/Townsend Harris) at sixth singles. After losing the first set 6-3, Jaramillo would win the second set 6-3 and then took the final set 7-6, 10-3 in the tiebreaker.
Today's victory put the Hawks at 6-0 on the season, while Saint Joseph's drops to 5-2. Hunter will be back in action on Tuesday when they head to Staten Island for a 3:00 p.m. match with the Dolphins.
