Luebcke Records 11 Kills in Loss to New Paltz

New York, NY – Sophomore outside hitter Christine Luebcke (Jackson Heights, NY/Cardozo) recorded a match high 11 kills, but her efforts wouldn't be enough as the Hawks were downed by New Paltz 3-0 (25-9, 25-16, 25-15) in a non-conference women's volleyball match Wednesday night at the Hunter Sportsplex.

Junior middle blocker Tracey Igwe (Bronx, NY/DeWitt Clinton) and sophomore middle blocker Mallory Grubler (Bayside, NY/Cardozo) each added five kills for the Hawks. Sophomore setter Katina Boutis (Pilot Mountain, NC/Salem Academy) tallied 16 assists and eight digs.

Sophomore outside hitter Melinda DiGiovanna hit .500 with a team high ten kills and also had six digs and three total blocks as New Paltz earned its 17th win of the season. Junior outside hitter Stephanie Skrobach added six kills while hitting a match high .556 and senior setter Stephanie Bova accumulated 25 assists and eight digs.

Hunter will be back in action on Monday, when they are scheduled to host the City College of New York and Medgar Evers College for a CUNY Athletic Conference multi-match day. The Hawks will play CCNY at 9:00 a.m. and then Medgar Evers at 1:00 p.m.
