Men’s Basketball Suffers Heartbreaking Overtime Loss to Montclair State

Montclair, NJ – Junior guard Maxwell Dubois (Hollywood, FL/Dillard) had a game high 18 points and 19 rebounds, however after an amazing comeback in the second half, the Hawks would fall in extended play, 77-69 to Montclair State University in the first game of the MSU Tip-Off Tournament Friday night in Montclair, NJ.

The Hawks struggled in the first half, scored just 22 points, and trailed by 19 points. However, they would end up outscoring the Red Hawks in the second half 40-21 to force overtime. In the overtime, it was all Montclair, outscoring the Hawks 15-7 to earn their first victory of the season.

Junior guard Rocco Rubino (Brooklyn, NY/Archbishop Molloy) was one of just three Hawks to finish in double figures, scoring 12 points, while sophomore guard Mark Courtien (Pelham, NY/Pelham Memorial) put ten points on the board for Hunter.

Montclair State was led by senior guard Ken Dudley and freshman forward David McDaniel who each scored 15 points in the victory.

Hunter will now play in the tournament's consolation game on Saturday, facing Eastern university who were defeated by York College 83-57.
