Box Score

Purchase, NY – Junior guard Maxwell Dubois (Hollywood, FL/Dillard) led the Hawks with 17 points, but after being down by just a bucket at the half, the Valiants of Manhattanville College would go on to claim a 78-68 victory in a non-conference men's basketball game on Tuesday night in Purchase, NY.

Holding a 28-26 point lead after one half, the Valiants opened up the second half with a 10-2 run to take a 38-28 lead with 16:21 left in the game. However, the Hawks surmount a comeback, cutting the lead to just two points following a three-pointer by junior guard Rocco Rubino (Brooklyn, NY/Archbishop Molloy) with 9:22 on the clock. However, the Valiants never gave away their lead and would run their lead up to as much as 13 before the Hawks cut it down to ten to finish the game.

Rubino was the second highest scorer for the Hawks with 15 points, followed by sophomore guard Mark Courtien (Pelham, NY/Pelham Memorial) with 11 points. Dubois led the team in rebounding with seven, while Rubino had a team high five assists.

The Valiants were led by sophomore Glen Rodriguez with 18 points, while fellow sophomore Trevoy Pointer added 16 points in the victory.

Hunter, now 1-3 on the year, return home on Tuesday, when they open up CUNY Athletic Conference play with John Jay College at 7:00 p.m. at the Hunter Sportsplex.
