Wayne, NJ – Junior forward
Maxwell Dubois (Hollywood, FL/Dillard) scored a team high 17 points, but as a team the Hawks shot just 35 percent from the field as they drop a 76-61 non-conference game to New Jersey Athletic Conference foe William Paterson on Saturday in Wayne, NJ.
The Hawks opened the game with a 12-2 run, hitting their first four attempts from downtown, but it wouldn't take long for the 8-1 Pioneers to tie the game at 12 with 14:09 left in the half. Over the next 13 minutes, the lead would change ten times and the game was tied five times, but a pair of late free throws would put William Paterson up 39-37 at the intermission.
The Pioneers then took control of the game in the second half, jumping out to an 11 points. Hunter would come within five points on twice during the remainder of the half, but couldn't get any closer as the Pioneers win their sixth consecutive game, fifth at home.
Freshman guard
Eric Klingsberg (Queens, NY/Holy Cross) was the only other Hawk to finish in double figures, scoring 14 points.
The Hawks now fall to 5-4 on the year and will now prepare for New York University, with whom they host on December 30 for a 5:00 p.m. game.
