The 2009 Turkey Trot was held on a brisk Wednesday afternoon right before Thanksgiving. The 5K course consisted of 1 and ¾ loops around the southern section of Central Park. The race was won by Matt Devens, who finished in 17 minutes and 20 seconds with Joe Papa just eight seconds behind in second place. After the race Matt described his victory as very surprising and he was amazed that he was able to run that fast as he hadn't really been training as much the weeks leading up to the race.
The first female finisher was Liz Mahoney, who finished in 18:55. The second female finisher was Jen Arozemna, who had a time of 20:19. The first faculty member was JerryArdimento who had a time of 22:43. The Faculty runner-up went to Mike Schleifer with a time of 26:14. The most exciting finish came in a battle for 12th place when both Katina Boutis and Mallory Grubler finishing in 24:43 with Katina just edging Mallory at the line. Overall it was an enjoyable experience by all and there is much anticipation for the next race.
