Shay Branch El-Vielot (Cambria Heights, NY/Canarsie) scored 13 of her game high 17 points in the second half as the Hawks erase a 13 point first half deficit to pick-up a 59-49 victory over Saint Joseph's College on Wednesday night in a non-conference women's basketball game in Patchogue, NY.
The Hawks, who struggled to find their offensive game in the first half, found themselves down 31-18 at the intermission. However, they would open the second half with a 10-0 run to cut the lead to three points with 15:48 on the clock. A little under five minutes later, junior guard

Shamar Stewartson (Springfield Gardens, NY/Far Rockaway) drained a three-pointer to give the Hawks a two point lead that they would never relinquish.
McKenna would go on to finish with 13 points and nine rebounds, while senior guard
Deseree Boler added ten points, five rebounds, four assists and steals. Senior forward
Andrea Buckham dominated the glass with game high 15 rebounds, ten offensive.
Saint Joseph's high scorers were seniors Trish McMahon and Corissa Stack who each finished with 15 points and eight rebounds.
A quick glance at the box score would reveal that free-throws were the overall decider of the game as the Hawks shot 71.4 percent from the line, hitting 15-of-21 compared to just 2-of-11 from the Golden Eagles. From the field, Hunter shot 21-of-68, and 2-of-7 from the downtown, while Saint Joseph's went 22-of-59 from the field and 3-of-15 from beyond the arc.
Hunter, now 5-2 on the season, will now head to Middletown, Connecticut on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. non-conference bout with Wesleyan University.
