Hawk Seniors Lead Team To Victory In Season Finale

New York, NY – On a night where four members of the Hunter men's basketball team were honored for participating in their final regular season game in a Hawk uniform, three of those seniors would score in double figures led by forward Frantz Millien (Rockland, NY/North Rockland) with 18 points and 13 rebounds to defeat the Bloodhounds of John Jay College 70-61 and lock up the sixth seed in the upcoming CUNY Athletic Conference playoffs.

The Hawks opened the game with an 8-0 run, but John Jay made a push and were able to tie the game at 19 with 6:38 left in the first half. However, senior guard Nicholas Flagg (Queens, NY/Cardozo) would sink and three-pointer and the Hawks never looked back. Flagg would go on to finish with 13 points, while senior forward Maka Thomas (Queens Village, NY/Martin Van Buren) contributed with 15 points, seven rebounds and two steals. The fourth senior on the team, guard Emiljano Kinaj (Bronx, NY/John F. Kennedy) finished with five points and five rebounds.

The Bloodhounds were led tonight by sophomore forward Chris Jaeger who provided a huge boost off the bench with 13 points, shooting 5-of-6 from the charity stripe. Also, senior guard Miguel Garcia scored 13 points and had a team high 11 rebounds and three assists in defeat.

After tonight's victory, the Hawks improve to 8-17 on the season and will finish in sixth place in the conference with a 6-7 record. The Hawks will now travel to Jamaica, NY to face #3 York College on Sunday, February 22 for the Quarterfinals of the CUNYAC Championship Tournament.
