Hawks Down Baruch in Five & Defeat Dolphins in Three at Multi-Match

Jamaica, NY – Sophomore middle blocker Mallory Grubler (Bayside, NY/Cardozo) put up a 15 kill, .314 hitting performance including some big plays in the final set as the Hawks were able to defeat the Baruch Bearcats 3-2 (19-25, 26-24, 14-25, 25-19, 15-8) in the first match of the CUNY Athletic Conference Multi-Match held at York College in Jamaica, NY.

Sophomore outside hitter Christine Luebcke (Jackson Heights, NY/Cardozo) contributed to the team's victory with nine kills, while junior middle blocker Tracey Igwe (Bronx, NY/DeWitt Clinton) added six kills and six total blocks. Sophomore setter Katina Boutis (Pilot Mountain, NC/Salem Academy) tallied 26 assists in the victory.

In their second match, the Hawks swept the College of Staten Island 3-0 () with Grubler and freshman middle blocker Jenna Pape (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) leading the team with six kills each, followed by Luebcke and freshman outside hitter Kim Hirten (Lindenhurst, NY/St. John The Baptist Diocesan) who had five a piece.

Following today's victories, the Hawks go to 2-0 in the CUNYAC and are 4-5 overall. They will look to remain unbeaten in conference play when they head to Lehman on Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. match.
