Igwe Leads Hawks Past Utica

Bronx, NY – Junior middle blocker Tracey Igwe (Bronx, NY/DeWitt Clinton) recorded a team high 12 kills, hitting .429 to the Hunter to a 3-1 (25-20, 14-25, 25-20, 25-8) victory over Utica College in the team's second match of the Union College Tournament in Schenectady, NY.

Freshman middle blocker Jenna Pape (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) also had a big match for the Hawks, hitting a season high ten kills (.421), while sophomore setter Katina Boutis (Pilot Mountain, NC/Salem Academy) dished out 37 assists and made ten digs.

In the Hawks first match of the tournament, they dropped a 3-0 decision to Union College. In that match, Igwe finished with a team high nine kills and sophomore outside hitter Christine Luebcke (Jackson Heights, NY/Cardozo) put up six kills.

On Saturday, Hunter is set to face Hartwick College at 10:00 a.m., followed the team's second meeting with Sage College at 2:00 p.m. Two weeks ago, the Hawks defeated Sage at the NYU Tournament in three sets.
