New York, NY – Sophomore outside hitter
Christine Luebcke (Jackson Heights, NY/Cardozo) finished with a match high nine kills and four serving aces to help lead Hunter College to a 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-19) victory over Manhattanville College in a non-conference women's volleyball match Friday night at the Hunter Sportsplex.
Sophomore setter
Katina Boutis (Pilot Mountain, NC/Salem Academy) had a solid match for the Hawks, balancing out the offensive strike while racking up 28 assists. Junior opposite
Tracey Igwe (Bronx, NY/DeWitt Clinton) and sophomore middle blocker
Mallory Grubler (Bayside, NY/Cardozo) each accumulated seven kills and played strong at the net with Igwe recorded three total block and Grubler had two assisted blocks.
Freshman outside hiter Kelly Schlittenhardt (Islip, NY/Islip) led the Valiants with eight kills, while Alex Zurek finished with seven kills, and sophomore Makana Gomes had a double-double with 20 assists and 15 digs.
The Hawks now improve to 10-6 on the year, while Manhattanville drops to 3-6. Hunter returns to action on Tuesday, when they host York College for a 6:00 p.m. CUNY Athletic Conference match at the Sportsplex.
