Women’s Volleyball Drops Final Two Matches at NYU Invite

New York, NY – The Hunter women's volleyball team wrapped up play at the New York University Invitational on Sunday with two tough losses to NYU-Polytechnic 3-1 (25-17, 26-24, 22-25, 25-13) and New York University 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-18) to close out the weekend with a 2-3 record.

Senior outside hitter Karolina Koguc (Brooklyn, NY/New Utrecht) and junior middle blocker Tracey Igwe (Bronx, NY/DeWeitt Clinton) each recorded a team high 12 kills, with Igwe adding four solo blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Christine Luebcke (Jackson Heights, NY/Cardozo) chipped in eight kills and sophomore setter Katina Boutis (Pilot Mountain, NC/Salem Academy) tallied 29 assists in the four set loss.

In their final match of the weekend, Koguc led the team in kills with eight and also registered seven digs, while Igwe finished with seven kills and Luebcke had six kills on her way to being named to the all-tournament team.

The Hawks are back in action next Saturday, September 12, when they are scheduled to face the College of Staten Island and Baruch College in the first CUNYAC Multi-Match of the season.
