On Friday and Saturday, October 8 and 9, the women's volleyball team traveled to Cortland, New York to compete in the Red Dragon Tournament hosted by SUNY Cortland. The Hawks fell on the first day against SUNY Geneseo, and then struggled on day two against host Cortland and Stevens Institute. After the tournament concluded, Hunter's record moves to 7-11, 5-0 CUNYAC.
On Friday night, the Hawks took on the Blue Knights of Geneseo in the opening match of the tournament. They struggled in the first two sets, dropping them 16-25 and 14-25, but gained momentum in the third set. Despite a hard fought set, they were edged 28-26 for the loss.
On Saturday, Hunter took on Stevens to open up the day. Hunter jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, but the Ducks rallied and won the next three sets for the win. Still looking to notch a win in the tournament, host Cortland was the final match of the trip. The Red Dragons came out on top in the first two sets, 25-17 and 25-15. Despite a valiant Hawk effort, Cortland would have the upper hand in the final set, 25-21 to conclude the match and tournament.
The Hawks return to action on Monday, October 11 when they participate a the second CUNYAC Multi-Match held a Brooklyn College.
