Hawks Split at Tri-Match

On Saturday, October 2, the women's volleyball team travelled to Glassboro, New Jersey for a tri-match against the Wolverines of Wesley College and the Professors of Rowan University. The Hawks posted a 1-1 record on the day bringing their season record to 7-8, 5-0 CUNYAC.

In the first match, the Hawks battled the Wolverines to a four set match with Hunter having the upper hand. They took the first set 25-11, dropped the second 20-25, edged out Wesley in the fourth 26-25 and ran away with the win in the final set 25-5. Junior Mallory Grubler led the attack with a game high 20 kills while Kim Hirten had 25 digs and setter Katina Boutis recorded 27 assists.

In the second match, Hunter struggled to find their rhythm as they fell in three and could not get their offense going. As a team, they tallied 20 kills, 62 digs and had a hitting percentage of .333.

The Hawks return to action on Friday and Saturday when they travel to Cortland, New York to compete in the SUNY Cortland tournament. The first match is at 7:00 pm on Friday against SUNY Geneseo.
