New York, NY – Junior guard Rocco Rubino (Brooklyn, NY/Archbishop Molloy) hit a deep three-pointer with 3.3 left in the game to give Hunter a 73-71 lead and eventual overtime victory over Lehman College in a big CUNY Athletic Conference matchup Friday night at the Hunter Sportsplex.

Trailing 71-70 with 21.7 to play in overtime, the Hawks inbounded the ball from just behind half court. The ball was then distributed around the perimeter, but no one could seem to find a shot until junior guard Maxwell Dubois (Hollywood, FL/Dillard) drove to the foul line, drawing two defenders, and dished off to Rubino who took the shot from beyond 24 feet and hit nothing but net to give Hunter the two-point advantage with 3.3 left. On the next possession, Lehman guard Xavier Garvin stepped on the sideline while coming up the court thus thwarting any chance of forcing a second overtime or getting the win.

Dubois finished as Hunter's top scorer with 14 points and also had a game high 15 rebounds. Sophomore guard Mark Courtien (Pelham, NY/Pelham Memorial) scored 12 points, all from downtown. Rubino, who struggled from the field all night, finished with just ten points.

Lehman forward Jonathan DeJesus closed out the night as the top scorer with 24 points and also had 15 rebounds. Then junior guard Alain Dela Cruz scored 11 points and had nine rebounds, while Garvin and sophomore center Patryk Odedina each added ten points.

Tonight's win now moves the Hawks (10-13, 6-5 CUNYAC) into fourth place in the conference heading into the final stretch of games next week where they will close out the season on the road with games against CCNY (7-15, 3-8 CUNYAC) on Wednesday and then John Jay on Friday.
