Hawks Pick up Two Wins at Multi-Match

On Saturday, September 11, the women's volleyball team traveld to Jamaica, New York to take part in the season's first conference Multi-Match contest hosted by York College. The Hawks faced Baruch and CCNY and won both matches. With the wins, they advance their record to 2-2, 2-0 CUNYAC.

The first match against Baruch saw five sets before the winner was determined. The Hawks came out on top, 25-17, 19-25, 25-20, 23-25, 15-12. Mallory Grubler and Christine Luebcke led the offense with 19 and 18 kills respectively while Kim Hirtenchipped in with eight. Setter, Katina Boutis recorded 49 assists and seven digs.

The Hawk's took on CCNY in the second game and rolled through the match in four sets. After dropping the first, 19-25, they came back to win 25-22, 25-18 and 25-15. Leubcke led the attack with 13 kills, bringing her day's total to 31. Grubler and Hirten chipped in with nine and seven kills a piece while Boutis recorded 29 assists.

The Hawks are back in action Tuesday, September 14 when they play host to the Lightning of Lehman College in their first home game. The conference match up is slated to begin at 6:00 pm.
