Volleyball Earns Win in Straight Sets

The Hawks are 3-0 in conference play.

On Wednesday night, September 14, the women's volleyball team played host to Lehman College in their home opener. It only took three sets for the Hawks to claim their third straight victory as they rolled 25-8, 25-18 and 25-17. With the win, Hunter advances to 3-2, 3-0 CUNYAC while the Lightning fall to 2-3, 2-1 CUNYAC.

In the opening set, the Hawks dominated both offensively and defensively as they held their opponents to just eight points. They connected on 6 kills compared to the Lightning's four kills on 18 attempts. The Hawks posted an impressive 15 service aces which helped them through the sets while their defense was equally impressive as they  held Lehman to just 17 points in the final two sets.

Mallory Grubler and Christine Luebcke led the attack for the Hawks as they combine for 14 kills and 15 digs on the night while .Kim Hirten chipped in with four kills and four digs. Setters Katina Boutis and Mia Alexis De Claro split match time and posted 10 and four assists respectively.

The Hawks are back in action on Thursday, September 16 when they travel to Brookly, N.Y. to take on Polytech in a non-conference match up. The game is slated for a 7pm start.
