On Tuesday, September 28, the women's volleyball team traveled to Brooklyn, New York for a conference matchtup with the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College. The Hawks took the early 1-0 lead and used the momentum to roll through the next two sets to take the match in three games. With the win, the Hawks advance to 6-6, 5-0 CUNYAC while Brooklyn slips to 6-4, 3-2 CUNYAC.
The Hawks came out firing on all cylinders in the first set as they knocked down 12 kills on 22 attempts while posting a .500 hitting percentage in the 25-14 win. They ran through the next two sets collecting 19 kills and playing exceptional on the defensive end, holding Brooklyn to just 17 and 19 points respectively.
Mallory Grubler and Christine Luebcke led the attack for the Hawks as they recorded 11 and eight kills respectively. Kim Hirten chipped in with six kills and six digs while setter Katina Boutis posted 22 assists and 11 digs.
The Hawks return to the court today, September 29 at 7:00 pm when they travel to New Paltz, New York to take on SUNY New Paltz in a non-conference matchup.
