Women's Volleyball Falls in Tri-Match

The Hawks will play in a CUNYAC Multi-Match against CCNY and Baruch on September 11.

On Wednesday, September 1, the women's volleyball team traveled to Madison, New Jersey for their season opener. In the first game of the tri-match, the Hawks took on host school, Farleigh Dickinson University at Florham and fell in straight sets, 25-13, 25-22, 25-21. The second match had the same outcome with Hunter falling to the Ducks of Stevens Institute of Technology 25-17, 25-13, 25-21. The Hawks fall to 0-2 while Stevens advances to 2-0 and FDU moves to 1-1.

Sophomore Kim Hirten (Lindenhurst, NY, St. John The Baptist Diocesan) led the Hawk attack with nine kills and 12 digs while fellow sophomore Karolina Krauze followed up with 8 kills. Junior Mallory Grubler (Bayside, NY, Cardozo) chipped in with six kills and led the team in digs with 14. Junior setter, Katina Boutis (Pilot Mountain, NC, Salem Academy) recorded 17 assists and 10 digs for the match.

Grubler recorded seven kills, six digs and two blocking assists while junior Rodesha Donaldson (Brooklyn, NY, Norman Thomas) chipped in with four kills, four digs and a service ace. Boutis picked up 14 assists in the loss while Alisa Jaganjac (Astoria, NY, W.C. Bryant) tallied three kills and seven digs.

The Hawks are back in action on September 11 when they take on Baruch and CCNY in a CUNYAC Multi-Match.
