On Wednesday night, September 29, the women's volleyball team traveled to New Paltz, New York for a non-conference match against SUNY New Paltz. After falling behind early and dropping the first set, the Hawks could not recover and would fall in three. With the loss, Hunter moves to 6-7, 5-0 CUNYAC while New Paltz advances to 15-4, 4-0 SUNYAC.
Hunter fell behind early in the first set getting themselves into a five point deficit and could not recover resulting in a 20-25 loss. New Paltz came out firing with a 7-0 run to open up the second set and the Hawks could not respond as they fell 10-25. Hunter could not hit their stride as they struggled through the last set 13-25 for the match loss.
Michelle Jacobson of New Paltz had a game high nine kills with teammate Kelly Lavender and Mallory Grubler close behind with eight. Christine Luebcke recorded seven kills while Karolina Krauze chipped in with 10 digs. Setter Katina Boutis posted 13 assists on the night.
The Hawks return to action on Saturday, October 2 when they travel to Glassboro, New Jersey for two non-conference matches between Wesley College and Rowan University. The start times are slated for noon and 2:00 pm respectively.
