New York, NY – On Friday, January 7, the women's swim team traveled down town to take on conference rivals, Baruch College in their fifth CUNYAC meet of the season. With only five second place finishes and a lone first place finish by sophomore Brianna DiGiore, the Hawks only managed to post a team total of 69 points compared to the Bearcat's 136. With the loss, Hunter slips to 6-3, 4-1 CUNYAC while Baruch advances to 5-3, 4-0 CUNYAC.
The 200 medley relay team comprised of Marian Wu, Kim Happich, Tiffany Magno and Jennifer Dzurita opened the meet with a second place finish in a time of 2:20.18, nine seconds out of first. Dzurita placed second in the 200 free and 100 back with times of 2:33.51 and 1:21.56 respectively. Magno also notched a runner up finish in the 100 fly while Stephanie Benenati placed second in the 100 breast in 1:35.96.
DiGiore doubled and placed second in the 800 free with a time of 11:13.09 and took Hunter's only first place finish in the 400 free, stopping the clock at 5:25.85. The foursome of Olga Kovalkova, Melissa Cruz, Gloria Reyna and DiGiore rounded out the evening as they placed second in the 200 free relay in a time of 2:15.22.
The Hawks are back in action on Monday, January 10 when they host Mount St. Vincent at 6:00 pm.
