Women's Volleyball Sweeps York College
To Win Fifth Straight

STATEN ISLAND, NY—The Hunter College women's volleyball team swept York College for their fifth-straight victory and bettered their CUNY Athletic Conference record to 7-0.

The Hawks won the first set 25-16, after the Cardinals took an early 2-0 lead and outpaced Hunter to lead at 13-11. Taylor Kordich stepped behind the service line and aced three of her next four serves to put the Hawks on top for good. Paulina Jobczyk led the offense with four kills in five attempts despite York outhitting Hunter .400 to .227.

Jobczyk started off service in the second set, paciing the Hawks to a 6-0 lead that included two service aces. Alisa Jaganjak also slammed two aces and Katina Boutis added one to go along with her eight assists in the 25-9 victory. Boutis and Jobczyk were perfect in their attack attempts helping Hunter to .389 hitting for the set.

In the third set, Hunter rolled out to a 11-3 lead thanks in part to .667 hitting by Camille Newkirk (6-of-9). Mia Alexis De Claro recorded eight assists as the Hawks kept the Cardinals in single digits for the second straight set.

Jobczyk connected on seven of eight attack attemps for the match as Christine Luebcke and Newkirk added six kills. The Hawks recorded 13 service aces to just four errors.

Hunter (13-6, 7-0 CUNYAC) returns home to the Hunter Sportsplex this Thursday to host St. Joseph's College-Long Island at 6:00pm.
