NEW YORK, NY - The Hunter College women's volleyball team was defeated by Elmira College in straight sets (25-15, 25-17, 25-9) at the Hunter College Invitational Volleyball Tournament.

The Hawks droppped the first set 25-15 after taking an early 3-0 lead. The Soaring Eagles did not allow the deficit to get any larger than three, eventually tying it up at 11. Elmira took a 12-11 lead on an attack error by Lucia Stosic and finished the set with a 14-4 run. Despite a .429 hitting effort by Christine Luebcke, the Hawks were limited to just .033 hitting.
Hunter trailed from the start of the second set, but kept pace the entire way. Five ties and two lead changes found the teams culminated with the teams tied at 13. Elmira pulled away again as they did in the first set, finishing with a 12-4 run to win 25-17. The Hawks were outhit .370 to .033.
The Soaring Eagles never trailed in the third set, taking an early 7-0 lead. Hunter got as close as six.
