OLD WESTBURY, NY – The Hunter College women's volleyball team won its second match in as many days, defeating the SUNY College at Old Westbury, 3-1 (25-18, 17-25, 25-22, 25-14) on Thursday evening.
With the win, Hunter improves to 11-6 on the season while the Panthers dropped to 13-8 in the non-conference matchup.
Christine Luebcke had an impressive performance, posting 16 kills with a .424 hitting percentage while Taylor Kordich and Jaclyn Hadfield each added eight kills each. Katina Boutis directed the offense with 25 assists and Kimberly Hirten registered four service aces to pace the squad.
Hunter finished with 43 kills, a .172 hitting percentage, 15 service aces and 6.5 blocks. Conversely, Old Westbury recorded 39 kills, a .198 hitting percentage, four service aces and four blocks. The Panthers did hold the edge in defensive digs, collecting 51 while the Hawks managed 27 in yesterday's affair.
The Hawks are back in action this Monday, October 10th when they had to the College of Staten Island for a multi-match to take on Medgar Evers College at 11 am and York College at 1 pm.
