Women's Volleyball Wins Fifth In A Row

NEWARK, NJ - The Hunter College women's volleyball team defeated Rutgers-Newark in four sets (25-9, 24-26, 25-12, 25-16), extending their current winning streak to five.

Christine Luebcke led the Hawks with 17 kills and CUNY Athletic Conference Rookie-of-the-Week Paulina Jobczyk added 11 kills on .375 hitting. Katina Boutis dished 33 assists playing in three of the four sets. Alisa Jaganjac recorded 22 digs and Luebcke and Jobczyk added 14 each.

Hunter jumped out to a 25-9 victory in the first set, due in part to a .469 hitting performance. Rutgers-Newark came from behind to win the second set 26-24 in a hard-fought set that had ten lead changes and 14 tie scores. In the third set Hunter stepped up the offensive effort with .458 hitting, as Jobczyk slammed three aces. It was Luebcke's turn next, as she added a pair of aces to the 25-16 final set victory.

Hunter (6-3, 3-0 CUNYAC) returns to the Hunter Sportsplex to host John Jay College this Tuesday night at 6:00pm.
