Tennis Suffers Second Loss

Golden Eagles prove too strong for Hawks.

PATCHOUGE, NY- On Saturday, September 15th, the women's tennis team travelled to Long Island to take on the Golden Eagles of St. Josephs.  The women fell 2-7, dropping their record to 1-2 while St. Joseph's improve to 3-1.

The Hawks were down 3-0 after doubles play, even after a valiant attempt at first doubles where junior Shena Jospeh and freshman Angelina Usherenko fell 9-8 (7-5).  Second doubles also had a close match, but ultimately falling 9-8 (7-3).

In singles play, Joseph dominated in the first flight besting Nancy Marroquin 6-2, 7-5 giving the Hawks their first win of the day.  At third singles, Usherenko beat Cristina Vaente in a super third set tie breaker 6-2, 5-7, (10-6) giving the Hawks their second and final win of the day.

The Hawks are back in action when they play their first CUNY match on Wednesday, September 19th when they travel to Staten Island to take on the Dolphins of CSI.
