BOX SCORE

JAMAICA, NY - On Friday night, January 11th the men's basketball team traveled to Jamaica to compete against the Cardinals of York College in a conference game.  The Hawks took advantage of the Cardinals turnovers and poor outside shooting, resulting in a 83-69 win.  With the win, Hunter improves to 6-9, 3-3 CUNYAC while York drops to 7-7, 3-3 CUNYAC, tying the teams for 4th place in CUNYAC standings.

Hunter took and early led in the first half, with a Lorenzo Brown lay-up with 12:42 to go in the opening half gave the Hawks a comfortable, 24-11 lead.  The Cardinals rallied to cut the lead to one point (26-25), with 4:31 left in the half, only to see the Hawks catch fire to end the half, and extend its lead to 16 points (47-31) going into the locker room.

In the second half, York trailed by as many as 23 points but once again rallied to make things interesting.  A 24-6 run over a nine minute span helped cut the margin to 65-60 with 3:30 to play.  But the Hawks followed with buckets on their next three possessions to put the game out of reach.

York committed 22 turnovers on the evening, which Hunter converted into 27 points.  Hunter had a strong shooting night, converting 50 percent of its shots (33-66) and also making 50 percent of its three pointers (6-12).

The Hawks were led by point guard Jerrell Antley, who finished with a game-high 24 points, nine assists, and five steals. Junior Lorenzo Brown recorded a double-double of 10 points and 15 rebounds. Freshmen Brian Kruger and Taulant Ibraj and junior Lester Anim all chipped in with 11 points a piece.

The Cardinals were led by Shamir Wilkinson, who scored a double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds.
