Brooklyn, N.Y. - The men's basketball team traveled to Medgar Evers this past Monday evening to compete against the Cougars for the second time this season. Despite the Hawks victory against Medgar in early December, the Cougars were able to overpower the Hawks this time, 90-62. With the loss, the Hawks fall to 7-13, 4-7 CUNYAC while the Cougars improve to 9-11, 5-6 CUNYAC.
The Hawks were led by
Jerrell Antley who netted 11 points with four boards and three steals.
Lester Anim added nine points and four rebounds while
Taulant Ibraj chipped in with eight points and four rebounds.
Peter Koutsoloukas had a team-high of 10 rebounds. The Cougars were led by Jovan Deare, Jamel Lewis, and Hector Navarro who all netted 19 points while teammate Winston Douglas had a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds.
The Hawks fell behind early, as the Cougars went on a 12-0 run in the first five minutes of the game. Hunter didn't get on the board until 14:47 with a good jumper from
Eric Kippins. The Hawks attempted to close the gap, but after taking a 10 point lead at half time, the Cougars ran away with the game. The second half proved no better for Hunter, as the Cougars always had at least a 20 point lead.
The Hawks are back in action on Wednesday, January 30th when they play host to the Bloodhounds of John Jay. Tip off is set for a 7:00pm start.
