Women's Tennis Overpowers John Jay

RESULTS

Flushing, N.Y - The women's tennis team earned their fourth win of the season against the Bloodhounds of John Jay on October 11th, 8-1.  With the win, the Hawks improve to 4-5, 4-3 CUNAC while the Bloodhounds drop to 2-12.

The team of Jane Selegean and Shena Joseph defeated John Jay's Gabriela Baez and Armine Kurkjian in the first position, with a demanding 8-1 score.  Hawks Stephanie Ahwireng and Angelina Usherenko beat Natalie Cervantes and Precious Riddick 8-1 in the second spot, while CUNYAC Rookie of the Week Janani Bavanandan and Abigail Rojas beat Enida Morina and Jessica Melchiorre by a score of 8-1.

In singles action, Selegean dominated at first singles, beating out Kurkjian 6-0, 6-1.  Joseph and Rojas both bageled their opponents 6-0, 6-0 in the second and sixth single slots, repsectively.  Usherenko won her match at fourth singles 6-1, 6-0 while Bavanandan defeated Cervantes 6-1, 6-3.

The Hawks are back in action on Wednesday, October 16th when they compete against Kean University.
