New York, N.Y - The women's volleyball team defeated the Valiants of Manhattanville College in a thrilling five setter, ousting them 3-2 (25-14, 21-25, 25-16, 22-25, 15-7). With the win, the Hawks improve to 9-8 while the Valiants drop to 13-11.
The Hawks were led by
Lucia Stosic who had a game high of 15 kills, two assists, six service aces, four digs and two blocks.
Stephanie Taibe chipped in with 13 kills, one assist, eight digs and six blocks.
Taylor Kordich added six kills, 15 assists, and 11 digs.
Freshman setter
Kristine Ciurcina had a team high of 27 assists, while also having nine digs and two serice aces.
The Valiants were led by Alissa Primavera who had 11 kills and four digs.
After the two teams fought hard to split the first four sets, Hunter needed a fifth set in order to decide a winner. The Valiants jumped out to a 4-1 due to errors, but the Hawks stormed back to register 12 straight points – helped out by six aces from Stosic – to take a great lead and pull out the win.
The Hawks are back in action on Monday, October 14th when they compete in the Medgar Evers Tri-Match.
