Women's Volleyball Defeats SUNY Old Westbury

Old Westbury, N.Y. - The women's volleyball team defeated the Panthers of SUNY Old Westbury on October 17th, 3-1 (25-10, 25-11).  With the win, the Hawks improve to 12-8 while the Panthers drop to 4-14.

The Hawks dominated in the first two sets, taking the first 25-10, and then the secon 25-11. In the second set Hunter also enjoyed a .320 attacking percentage compared to Old Westbury's .048.

The third set started off with a 7-0 run for the Hawks, but then the Panthers bounced back with a 10-1 run, and took the lead 15-12.  The Panthers would eventually take the set 25-22 to make the score 2-1.

In the fourth and final set, the Hawks went on a 24-12 run to take the set 25-15.

The Hawks were led by Brianna O'Hagan who had 12 kills, eight digs and two aces while Karolina Gajda added eight kills.  Taylor Kordich chipped in with seven kills, 12 assists, three aces, three digs, and three blocks. Setter Kristine Ciurcina tallied 24 assists.

The Hawks are back in action on October 19th when they compete against Rutgers-Camden and Elmira College.
