Glassboro, N.J. - The women's volleyball team fell in three straight sets to The Profs of Rowan University on Saturday, October 5th. With the loss, the Hawks fall to 7-8, while The Profs improve to 12-6.
The first set was a back and forth affair with neither team taking more than a four-point lead. The score was tied at 17, but the Profs ended the set on an 8-4 run to take the first set 25-21.
In the second set, Rowan was able to build a 12-7 lead and then led 18-11. The Hawks used an 11-5 spurt to tie the set 22-22. The score was tied at 24 and 25, but the Profs scored the final two points to take the second set.
Rowan jumped out to a lead in the third set and held a 16-10 advantage. The Profs then led 23-16, but the Hawks scored seven straight points to tie the set at 23. The set was tied at 24, but again Rowan tallied the final two points to win the third set and the match.
The Hawks were lead by
Stephanie Taibe who recorded 13 kills, followed by
Taylor Kordich who tallied five kills, six assists, and five digs. Setter
Kristine Ciurcina had 22 assits and five digs, while
Lucia Stosic had eight kills and three blocks.
The Profs were lead by Morgan Mende who had 15 kills.
The Hawks are back on the court on Tuesday, October 8th when they play host to NJCU. The match is slated for a 6:00pm start.
