Men's Basketball Drops Overtime Thriller

New York, N.Y - The Hunter College Hawks lost an overtime thriller 81-80 to the Rutgers-Newark Scarlett Raiders on Wednesday night at the Hunter College Sportsplex. With the loss, the Hawks drop to 2-2.

The Hawks fought back from a nine point deficit with 9:21 to go and tied the game at 69 on a 3-pointer from senior guard Frankie Drayton.
Drayton led the Hawks with 24 points, 18 of them coming in the 2nd half and OT.

Down by one in overtime, Drayton sank two free throws to give the Hawks a 75-74 lead. The Scarlett Raiders (2-1) re-took the lead 76-75 on two made free throws by Doze Ikwuegbu, who scored a game-high 25 points.

Drayton then came down and drained a 3-pointer to give the Hawks a two point lead and then they forced a turnover which led to a Jerrell Antley layup with :45 to go to give the Hawks an 80-76 lead, Antley finished the game with 18 points.

The Scarlett Raiders cut the lead to two and then immediately forced a Hawks turnover with :07 remaining.  John Snow was then fouled shooting a 3-pointer and he made all three free throws to seal the victory for the Scarlett Raiders. Snow finished the game with 12 points.

The Hawks return to action Tuesday, November 26th when they take on CUNY rival Baruch College. Tip-off is 7:30pm.
