BRIDGEWATER Mass. -- The women's baketball team dropped a tough 86-46 loss to the Bears of Bridgewater State in the finals of BSU's Tip-Off Tournament. With the loss, the Hawks fall to 2-3 while the Bears improve to 2-1.
Bridgewater dominated from the start never allowing Hunter College to retake the lead after the Hawks had the early advantage within the first four minutes of play.
The Bears shot 46% (31-67) from the field while holding the Hawks to just 27% (14-52). From 3-point range, BSU connected on 11 of 25 attempts for a 44% clip, while Hunter only managed to sink 2 of 15 (13%) from behind the arc. Bridgewater also forced 24 turnovers, 11 of those coming on steals, . They also dominated on the boards by outrebounding Hunter 48-33 with 30 of their rebounds coming off the offensive class.
Senior forward
Kristen Markoe (Staten Island, N.Y.) was named to the All-Tournament Team for the Hawks. Markoe tallied 12 points to go along with three rebounds and three assists in the setback. Junior center
Dimitra Thomopoulos (Old Westbury, N.Y.) chipped in with 12 points, three rebounds and a pair of steals in just 17 minutes.
The Hawks are back in action when they take on CUNYAC rivals Baruch College.
