Men's Basketball Back on Track With Win Over Brooklyn

Brooklyn, N.Y. - The men's basketball team snapped a seven game losing streak on Sunday with a win over Brooklyn College, 70-65. With the win, the Hawks improve to 8-16, 5-10 CUNYAC while the Bulldogs drop to 10-13, 8-7 CUNYAC.

During the first half the Hawks jumped out to a 15 point lead, 17-2, after a good jumper by Jerrell Antley at 12:57. The Hawks continued to add to their lead, going up by 18 points at half time after a good layup by Terrhon Vaughn, 40-22.

Hunter used a hot shooting hand to build its halftime lead, as the Hawks shot 60.7% (17-28) from the field, including going a perfect 6-for-6 from beyond the arc. Brian Kruger netted 12 first half points on 4-for-4 shooting from downtown.

The Hawks continued to lead by double digits until the Bulldogs began to rally back in the final 12 minutes of the game. Using a 21-4 run, Brooklyn took their first lead of the game, 63-61 with 4:01 remaining in regulation. After exchanging a pair of free throws, the Bulldogs led 65-64 with 2:07 on the clock. But the Hawks wouldn't allow them to score again after a good jumper by Peter Koutsoloukas and good free throws from Antley and Kruger, Hunter would take the win 70-65.

The Hawks went a perfect 7-7 from the arc and went 15-18 from the charity stripe.

Antley led all scorers with 21 points, and eight assists. Koutsoloukas had a double-double scoring 12 points and 10 boards while Kruger had an outstanding 16 points, going 4-4 from the floor.

Jeffrey Noel led the Bulldogs with 19 points and five rebounds while Kavon Baker netted 11 points and eight boards.

The Hawks are back in action on February 12th, when they host the Dolphins of CSI. Tip-off is set for a 7pm start.
