New York, NY – Hunter's women's volleyball team fell in their home opener to New York University 0-3 (15-25, 22-25, 21-25) on Tuesday, September 10
th.
Lucia Stosic had a team-high 10 kills while
Karolina Gajda and
Stephanie Taibe both had six kills for the Hawks.
Kristine Ciurcina recorded a game-high 26 assists and
Taylor Kordich led defensively with a team-high 11 digs.
The Hawks recorded 10 kills in the opening set against the Violets.
Lucia Stosic netted four kills and
Brianna O'Hagan added three for Hunter's offense. Setter
Kristine Ciurcina paced the Hawks with eight assists and
Samantha Barrett recorded a solo block. NYU had 12 kills and forced the Hawks into eight errors taking the first set, 15-25.
Karolina Gajda and
Lucia Stosic had four kills each in the second set against NYU. Stosic also added a solo block while
Kristine Ciurcina tallied nine assists for her Hunter teammates. The Hawks combined for 12 total kills and improved their team's chemistry only committing two errors.
Samantha Barrett netted a service ace against the Violets, but NYU attacked the Hawks with 15 kills winning the second set, 25-22.
In the third set, Hunter collected 12 digs to NYU's 11 behind
Taylor Kordich's five digs.
Kristine Ciurcina had nine assists on 10 kills by the Hawks.

Karolina Gajda all had two kills apiece in the third set, but NYU exploded for a game-high 16 kills in the third set. NYU went on to sweep Hunter winning the final set 25-21.
Hunter falls to 1-5 after their loss to NYU. Their next match will be on Saturday, September 14
