Hawks Drop Close One To Violets

New York, N.Y - The Hunter Hawks Men's Basketball lost a close one, 66-63 to New York University on Tuesday night at the Hunter College Sportsplex.

The Hawks (6-6, 3-2) were led by Frankie Drayton's 18 points and seven assists. Lester Anim chipped in with 10 points.

The Violets (10-1) were led by Evan Kupferberg, who scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Ryan Tana scored 16 points.

The Hawks were in control much of the 1st half, pulling ahead by 13 points with 8:45 to go. They led 31-28 at halftime, holding the Violets to 1/8 shooting from 3-point land and forcing nine turnovers. The 2nd half is where the Violets wrestled away control from the Hawks. Kupferberg went a perfect 6/6 from the field and Tana made 4/6 from 3-point land.

The Hawks return to action Friday, January 10th when they take on CUNY rival York College. Tip-off is at 7pm.
