BOX SCORE NEW YORK, NY – The Hunter Hawks men's basketball team took on Yeshiva University on Tuesday night in the Hawks 2014-15 home opener. The Maccabees defeated the Hawks 82-73 in front of a large crowd at the Hunter Sportsplex.
The Hawks were led by junior guard
Brian Kruger who poured in a game-high 23 points, on 3-of-5 shooting from 3-point land and 12-of-14 from the free throw line.
Taulant Ibraj came off the bench to contribute 18 points.
The Hawks were once again aggressive driving the ball to the basket, getting to the line 29 times, the 3
rd straight game they've gotten to the line 29 times or more.
The Maccabees had four players in double figures, led by Shelby Rosenberg and Benjy Ritholz each scoring 18 points. Michael Berg chipped in with 12 points while Joseph Ammar had 11. As a team the Maccabees shot 62% from the field.
With 10:38 left in the game, the Hawks trailed by 18 but fought back thanks to the 3-point shooting of Kruger and Ibraj. The Hawks would close to deficit to eight points four times in the final six minutes of the game.
The Hawks return to action Friday night when they travel to Amherst, MA to participate in the Amherst College Tournament, beginning Friday when they take on Mt. Ida College at 8pm.
