BOX SCORE NEW YORK, NY – The Hunter women's basketball team lost 89-62 to Lebanon Valley College on Saturday afternoon in the Championship game of the 2014 Hunter Tip-Off Tournament. The Hawks fall to 2-3 on the season.
The Hawks fell behind early in game to the undefeated Dutchmen, as the Hawks were unable to break down the defense, shooting only 25% from the field in the first half.
The Hawks turned around their shooting problems in the second half shooting 53% from the field but the first half lead Lebanon Valley had was too big for the Hawks to overcome.
Kristen Markoe had 14 of her team-high 18 points in the second half, earning her a spot on the All-Tournament Team. In the two games, she combined for 38 points, 18 rebounds and 12 assists.
Carolyn Kweon scored 12 points on 4-of-8 from three-point land in the second half and
Ashley Yu had 10 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Joey Chan also earned an All-Tournament Team selection, combining for 29 points in both the Hawks games.
Lebanon Valley was led by Tournament MVP Bridget Rothert's all-around game where she tallied 42 points, eight assists and 13 rebounds. Payton Carper was also named to the All-Tournament Team with her strong performance in the Championship game totaling 18 points to lead the Dutchmen.
The Hawks return to action Tuesday November 25 when they travel to Staten Island to face CUNYAC foe College of Staten Island. Game time is scheduled for 5:30pm.
