BOX SCORE NEWARK, NJ – The Hunter Hawks men's basketball team took on Rutgers-Newark in a non-conference matchup on Monday night. The Hawks lost to the Scarlet Raiders 69-44 to fall to 3-6 on the season.
The Hawks battled in the first half keeping the game close throughout the first 20 minutes trailing 30-24 going into halftime.
In the second half the Scarlet Raiders turned up the defensive pressure, holding the team to 23% shooting in the final 20 minutes and 30% for the entire game.
Lester Anim led the Hawks offensively scoring 11 points while grabbing seven rebounds; he was the lone Hawks to score in double figures. Senior
Jerrell Antley made his season debut, scoring eight points.
The Hawks return to action Friday night when they welcome CCNY to the Sportsplex in a CUNYAC matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm.
