Hawks Fall Short to Bulldogs

New York, N.Y. – The Hunter College men's basketball team lost a close one, 76-71 to Brooklyn College on Friday night at the Hunter Sportsplex.

CUNYAC Player of the Week Frankie Drayton led the Hawks with a game-high 30 points, five rebounds and five assists. Brian Kruger was the only other Hawks to get to double figures, he scored 10.

The Bulldogs were led Egzon Gjonbalaj who scored 23 points and dished out seven assists. Jamel Gist scored 19 points while Jai Kellman chipped in with 17.

The Hawks (10-11, 6-7 CUNYAC) turned a 10 point halftime lead into a17 point lead with 16:02 remaining.

But from that point forward the Bulldogs chipped away, eventually tying the game at 60 with 5:18 to go. The Bulldogs (10-12, 6-7 CUNYAC) would make their free throws down the stretch to secure the victory. They outscored Hunter 41-26 in the 2nd half.

The Hawks return to action Tuesday February 11th when they travel to Staten Island to take on the CSI Dolphins. Tip-off is 5:30pm.
