Strong 2nd Half Leads Hawks To Victory

NEW YORK, NY – The Hunter men's basketball team ended their season long six game losing streak Wednesday night with a convincing 73-60 victory over the CCNY Beavers. The Hawks improve to 7-12 overall and 4-7 in CUNYAC play.

The Hawks came out in the first half and controlled the early portion using a 13-2 run to turn a 9-5 game into a 22-7 game in just over four minutes of play. The Beavers came back in the final five minutes of the half using a 14-5 run to cut the Hawks lead to 35-34 at the half.

Brian Silvera scored 12 of his 16 points in the first half to lead the Hawks.
In the second half the Hawks clamped down on the defensive end and stepped up offensively, holding the

Beavers to 33% shooting from the field in the final 20 minutes and forcing them into 0-of-9 from behind the arc.

The Hawks shot 59% as a team in the second half led by Brian Kruger scoring 13 of his game-high 21 points in the final 20 minutes.

Along with Kruger's 21 points and Silvera's 16 points, Lester Anim and Jerrell Antley scored 13 points and 11 points respectively. Silvera also grabbed a season high 14 rebounds.

The Hawks return to action Friday night when they will host CUNYAC foe John Jay College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm.
