BOX SCORE RIVERDALE, NY - The Hunter Hawks women's basketball team earned their first CUNYAC win of the season by defeating the John Jay Bloodhounds 78-65 on Friday afternoon. The game was played on the campus of The College of Mount Saint Vincent.
The Hawks were led by four players scoring in double figures, headed by
Dimitra Thomopoulos season-high 23 points.
Ayanna Hudson chipped in with 14 points and 15 rebounds, while
Joey Chan also had a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Carolyn Kweon scored 11 points in 20 minutes of play.
The Hawks opened up the game trailing 6-1 but scored 10 of the next 12 points and would never trail again in the first half. The team had one of their best shooting halves of the season shooting 45% from the field as they took a 39-34 into the break.
The Hawks remained in control for the second half never losing their lead as they continued their hot shooting and reletnless defense. For the game the Hawks shot 48% from the field, while holding the Bloodhounds to 33% from the field.
The Hawks return to action Tuesday January 6 when they will host Medgar Evers College in a CUNYAC matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 5pm.
