BOX SCORE NEW YORK, NY – The Hunter men's basketball team won their third straight game Tuesday night with a 75-59 victory over Medgar Evers College. The win improves the Hawks record to 6-6 on the season and 3-2 in CUNYAC play.
The Hawks had four players reach double figures on the night, led by
Brian Kruger's 14 points. The junior guard shot 4-of-8 from 3-point land and also dished out four assists.
Lester Anim and
Jerrell Antley each scored 12 points and
Gerard Carty chipped in with 11 points.
The Hawks only trailed once throughout the game when they fell behind 2-0 just over a minute into the first half. They took control with an early 11-0 run capped by an old fashioned 3-point play by Antley to put the Hawks up 11-2.
The Cougars cut the Hawk lead to three after a jumper by Valin Williams but a jumper by Carty and back-to-back 3-pointers by
Dan Shulman put the Hawks up 26-15 with just over six minutes until halftime.
The second half started with the Cougars trimming the Hawks lead down to three points less than four minutes into the half. The Hawks responded with a 12-0 run to increase the lead to 15 points with just over 12 minutes remaining in the game.
The Hawks would continue to increase the lead to as much as 18 points.
The Hawks would shoot 45% from the field during the game and go 21-of-22 from the free throw line.
Next up for the Hawks is another CUNYAC matchup on Thursday January 8 when they will take on York College. Tip-off is scheduled for 8pm.
